Kerala  now known as God’s own country, it is an advertisement caption for Kerala tourism development corporation. The add had a good reach among people and the caption became familiar all over India. Our state has blessed with it’s scenic beauty of greenaries, landscapes, lakes, beaches  and so on. We can proudly say that Kerala had a remarkable position among top tourist destinations in India. Not only Indians we have a huge catgory of regular foreign travellers who love to explore the beauty of our state. The increased number of tourists show that Kerala is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The diversity of landscapes and culture of the people are the main attraction of foreigners to our land.

The different traditions and festivals, different malabar cousins, coconut trees, backwaters these are the main misteries in our state. The places are comfortable for family tours, honeymoon packages as well as adventure tourism. Now let’s have a look at some tourist destinations in Kerala.

Munnar

Munnar, the name resembles a beautiful hill station which is faemous for the misterious beauty which mets the horizon in front f bedded valleys. Munnar lying at 1600 m above the sea-level and now it became the most sought out travel destinations in the world. It is a proper tourist hub with resorts and activities that have attracted visitors for decades. The place is well known for its greenaries of tea plantations, rare flora and fauna, elegant looking towns and  peaks and dams. All these peculiarities make it the perfect destination for an extended tourist spot. All other features the unique sight of the Neelakurinji flower that appears once in every 12 years  makes it an unavoidable place to visit. No words to express the beauty of flourished nerlakurinji along with the cloudy skies. Munnar had a nick name ‘The Kashmir of South India’ it is located in Idukki district. A huge number of tourists are visiting during the months of August- September when the kurinji blooms once in 12 years. Popular Munnar tourism attractions include TATA Tea Museum, Blossom Park, Pothamedu ViewPoint, Attukal Waterfalls, Top Station, Kundala Lake, Mattupetty Dam, Eravikulam National Park, Marayoor Dolmens, Anamudi, Indo Swiss Diary Farm, Lockhart Gap, Cheeyapara Waterfalls, Life of Pi Church, Meesapulimala etc.

Alleppey Backwaters

Alappuzha well known for backwater related tourism. The houseboat trips are the main attraction of foreigners and tourists inside the country. Alappy mainly had a increase of foreigners visit during the month of August dute to annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race, held on the Punnamada Lake, near Alappuzha. There are alot of things to explore in alappuzha, which are handled by KTDC and DTDC. The best honeymoon packages are available in houseboats. Wayanad

The raw culture real greenaries are best to experience from here. The best trucking places are available here. Summer is the best season to enjoy the wild life and forest beauty.  It is a must visit tourist destination in Kerala. Wayanad all together has many exotic locations like edakkal caves, banasura sagar dam, Wayanad Wildlife Santuary, Lakkidi, Tusharagiri Waterfalls, Kalpetta, and Sentinel Rockfalls. A heart shaped lake on the way to the top of the Chembara peak is a major tourist attraction in Wayanad. We can see the tribes living in forest and experience the tribal culture. Many tourist packages are available which allows to stay in the tree hut and enjoy the mystery. The district is k like least populated among others in the state. Kochi

Kochi the main tourist destinations are easy to start from here. The place belongs to Ernakulam district, and at the middle of the state. The beautiful place located on the coast of Arabian Sea.  Comparitively a fast city among other districts of Kerala. The colonial resembleences are still remain beautiful in Fortkochin. It is a mix of british, portugese and dutch cultures spread all across. It is now became one of the natural harbours of the world and called as queen of Arabian Sea. Alot of cultural activities are taken place here like Muziris binale, Cochin carnival etc. The main attractions of tourists are Fortkochin beach, Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Cemetery, Mattancherry Palace and so on. Here we can see the impressions of an emerging mertopolitian city. Huge buildings, It hubs, Malls etc are added facilities here. Tourist can find old English, Dutch and Portuguese houses and buildings in both Fort Cochin and Mattancherry that take us back to those colonial memories. Chinese fishing nets at the beach and the sun set are faemous in Kochi. Places near by to visit includes Hillpalace, Cherai beach, Subash park etc. A huge number of foreigners are coming here to celebrate New year in each season.

Thiruvananthapuram

The name of the district itself means the city of  Loard anantha. When we think about the place the devotion and related culture of the historically important Padmanabha Swamy Temple came to our mind. This is a huge temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and had fame all over the world. Here we can see the  mix of Dravidian and Kerala architectural style, the Padmanabha Swamy Temple is the right place for art lovers. The temple had many ancient stone carvings which holds crores of wealth in the form of gold and had great collection of mural paintings. The divine idol of Lord Vishnu reclining on the Serpent Anantha is yet another treat to the eyes.The district is largest in the state and had a rich mixure of culture. Main tourist location are Kuthiramalika Palace Museum , Napier Museum , Ponmudi, Kovalam, Veli Tourist Village and Thenmala, Mermaid Statue in Shanmugham Beach.

Vagamon

The enchanting hill station across Idukki –  Kottayam boarder which attracts tourists across India and outside. Valleys, tea plantations, gardens and many other make the place a beautiful scenary. The beauty of mistic hills and perfectly maintained lawns, gardens and the freshness of the matter air makes the place a landmark among the country. There are alot of hill stations across the country but the vagamon is extraordinary because of the perfectly seen chain of valley’s and hills which is religious also. Thanks hill, Murugan hill, and kurishumala are some of them.

Thrissur

Faemous for Thrissur pooram which is colourful and spectacular with it’s tradition. A huge number of tourists in and outside the country eagerly waiting for the extraordinary experience and ambience. Thrissur had an other name Thirusivaperoor which the cultural capital of the state. Thrissur pooram is held between April- May and which is the last pooram celebrated in that year. Apart from pooram there are other tourist destinations in the district. They are punnathoorkotta,  Guruvayoor temple, Thrissur zoo and museum, shakthan Thampuran palace, chavakkad beach, Athirappalli and vazhachal waterfalls and so on.
